Dog Show Results

Chairman of the Dog Show, Keith Miller, was pleased with the keen support for the Dog Show this year. "We had over 150 dogs taking part which is a very good turnout", said Mr Miller. New this year was the presentation of the Wendy Miller Rose Bowl, in memory of Keith's wife Wendy, who died last year. Wendy, a Crufts judge, ran the Dog Show at the Corsley Show for 20 years.

The Wendy Miller Rose Bowl went to Dexter, a golden retriever owned by Dave Bush of Warminster.

About the show

Over 100 years ago, on the 25th August 1909 some enterprising gents from Corsley held a meeting to organise a fête and sports day which they agreed would be held on 11th September 1909. Amongst the attractions were a three-mile race, a football tournament, a cricket match, greasy pole and pillow fight.

This year, the Corsley Show Committee are proud to hold the 98th Show (the event wasn’t held during both World Wars). The attractions are a bit different, but we still retain the village fête appeal of yesteryear.

Our aim is to entertain you with a fun-filled day out for all the family. Who grew the biggest marrow, the most beautiful dahlia? Who won the kids’ egg-and-spoon race, mums and dads can join in the tug o’war against the kids too! Did Corsley thrash Warminster in the Roll, Dash and Bash? Who won the Dressage competition? Bring along your pampered pooch – the Dog Show caters for pedigrees, allsorts and there’s even a class for ‘Best Six Legs’ (that’s you and your dog – it’s not a freak show!). Fancy a go at winning a barrel of beer? Get a team of six together for the Wadworth Championship Tug o’ War. All sounding a bit too energetic? No problem, there’s the beer tent where you can listen to the band, the Tea Tent to while away the afternoon stuffing your face with a cream tea, or just wander round browsing (and buying!) some fabulous local produce and crafts to take home.

We hope you enjoy our lovely Show!

The Show expresses its gratitude to the Warminster Area Board for its grants to assist in the purchase of marquees and other Showfield amenities.
